Preschool education
Preschool education, as in most countries, is not compulsory. Children can attend nurseries, kindergartens, pre-school education centers, as well as day care centers for children.
Pre-school education lasts 2 years and is intended for children aged 4 to 6 years. Many states issue a certificate at the end of a preschool setting out the child’s attendance, behavior, and abilities. This certificate may be required when enrolling in elementary school.
In the United States, preschoolers are educated in nurseries and kindergartens. You can send a child to them from an early age, from six months.
Kindergartens in this country are paid, the average price per month is 1000 – 1400 dollars. In such institutions, children spend almost the entire day, from morning to 17 – 18 hours.
For older preschool children, there are preparatory groups in which the kids attend classes. They are focused on teaching reading, preparing for school, and socializing future students.
Preschool education in America is optional – it is not necessary to attend kindergarten or preparatory groups. The education system in the United States implies compulsory schooling. Education begins at the age of five to eight (it depends on the state), its duration is twelve years.
