I have been thinking on possible activities during my one-month visit to the UQ. These are initial interests to begin discussing on these issues but I am open to any ideas you may have for collaboration. The activities I am interested in include: - To visit study areas (with the focus on: habitats, species, sampling design, field methods), especially to conservation and production forests - To know the type of collaboration you, as researchers, have with land managers and policy makers - To know the tools you use for conservation decision and planning - To discuss on common topics of our respective research projects - To explore similarities and differences in, for instance, habitat management and animal conservation in Queensland vs. Catalonia (and maybe to write something collaboratively) The main topics I am working or I have worked recently are: · Wildfires, postfire salvage logging, vertebrates and ecosystem services o Ecology and conservation of bird communities in relation to time since fire and to postfire management practices o Temporal and spatial aspects of vertebrate colonization of burned areas o Seed dispersal and predation by birds and rodents related to postfire management practices o Recommendations on management practices taking the fauna into account · Prescribed burning for rangeland management and avifauna o Impacts on bird populations (abundance trends, local survival) o Effects of time since fire and fire severity on bird diversity and conservation · Cicadas as indicators of belowground wildfire effects o Impact of pine root mortality on nymph abundance and biometrics o The role of unburned forest patches for cicada population resistance · Ecological impacts of invasive animal (ant) species o Impacts of Argentine ant on prey and insectivorous forest bird populations More details at

Feel free to suggest any other topic or activity. Also, if you are busy during this period I could also work on my own for part of the stay.
