Having spent a few years as a postdoc at CEED on a joint WCS/UQ fellowship, Maina is currently an honorary research fellow at the Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation Science at the University of Queensland, and a lecturer in Spatial Information Science at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.
He is a landscape/seascape ecologist with interests in a wide range of environmental and ecological questions, predominantly focusing on coral reef systems. His ultimate goals were to understand and predict the impacts of environmental variability and change on marine and coastal social-ecological systems at local and global scales, in-order to support conservation and adaptation planning and management.
