I'll be there Sept 14-Dec 15, mostly in Brisbane, but with trips planned to Perth and probably Adelaide and Melbourne for the research. I'm collaborating with Kerrie Wilson at U Queensland and Marit Kragt at U Western Australia. This is a pilot study to elicit preferences for ecosystem services, and perceptions of ES value, among different groups more or less concerned with ecological restoration. The groups are scientists/managers, policymakers, and the general public. Questions include: How does your level of knowledge influence your perception of value? How are the groups different in terms of their preferences for kinds of services (provisioning, regulating, cultural, etc.)? How does preference for services vary in different regions of Australia where different environmental issues take center stage (e.g., erosion/reef protection in Queensland, soil salinity and groundwater in WA, etc.).
